Upon requests coming from various sector representatives including The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), the Personal Data Protection Board in Turkey (“Board”) decided to postpone the deadline for registration for the Data Controllers Registry (“Registry”) for certain categories of data controllers (decision dated September 5th 2019 and numbered 2019/265). According to the decision: - Data controllers having more than 50 employees or annual financial statement higher than TRY 25 million, and - Data controllers located abroad (both real and legal persons) must register with the Registry before December 30th, 2019. Thus, the deadline for the above mentioned data controllers has been postponed for 3 months. For the other categories of data controllers the formerly announced deadlines are still valid.
